A NEW APPROACH

Our experience of working with families in a drug treatment setting raised significant issues of accessibility and stigma.  The second major challenge was around involving families in appropriate treatment environments. Family based drugs services normally offer couple counselling or a group activity, whilst useful in their own right they are interventions rather than a service and rarely take into consideration the concept of the family as a “whole”.

Utilising years of experience, and unparalleled success in the treatment of addiction, coupled with the proven philosophy of Iceni, we have developed an intensive support structure created to aid families to overcome the obstacles of addiction and its associated problems such as debt, domestic violence and crime. This will be achieved by providing an inclusive service embracing the psychological, social and physical needs of the family.

• Iceni’s aim is to provide a first class service to families in need to achieve fuller participation in society and greater self-sufficiency and independence.
• To reduce social care interventions for these families and to prevent children from being taken into care.
• To work with other agencies to provide a single point of contact for families with addiction and associated problems.
• To reduce the financial cost to society by keeping families together.

Families with children

Iceni is working towards being a centre of excellence within the local community for families affected by addiction. Addiction is the state of being enslaved to a habit and can take many forms, for example it may include substance or alcohol misuse, eating disorders and gambling.

Whether you are a parent, guardian, carer, or just a concerned family member we can help. If you have children within the local care system or on the ‘at risk’ register we can help. If you are in need of support to help your family regarding an addiction, Iceni can provide a comprehensive support system under one roof. We will provide a holistic approach that takes into consideration the many associated problems that families may experience.

At Iceni we recognise that all parents, guardians and carer’s want the best for their families.  When families become fragmented or dysfunctional we are here to help pick up the pieces.  Whether you feel in a crisis, need advice, guidance or support, or more specialist interventions, Iceni provides a safe, secure and nurturing environment, all under one roof.

There are occasions when a young person is concerned about their parent’s addiction. This can be very hard to talk about and may also cause the young person to become a young carer.

We appreciate that there can still be a very powerful love holding these families together, alongside the hurt, anger and isolation that inevitably follows. We are here to support families to reconcile their differences and aid the healing process.
